Nature Walks

2 Hour Plant Identification Walks

Wild Foods and Herbal Remedies Identification

Our introductory wild foods and medicinals workshops consist of a two hour on location walk in which we identify, discuss and sample edible and medicinal wild plants. We will also suggest ways in which tasty dishes can be prepared and point out the do’s and don’ts of gathering and cooking, which includes the ideal seasons for harvesting, what parts to use and what should be avoided.  Poisonous plants and look-alikes are also discussed.

Workshops may also cover the rules and philosophies of foraging and sustainable practices, and the nutritional makeup of plants, as well as the myths and legends surrounding them .

Participants usually go away with a desire to learn more and to put their new found knowledge into practice.  For those who wish to further explore cooking wild foods or making herbal remedies we have dedicated workshops throughout the year.
